Renewable energy is energy derived from natural processes that are replenished at a rate that is equal to or faster than the rate at which they are consumed. Under the Canada Greener Homes Loan initiative, qualifying applicants can receive an interest-free loan for installing solar photovoltaic technology that converts sunlight directly into electricity.

$40,000 Interest Free Loan for Energy Retrofits

• The Greener Homes interest-free loan incorporates and builds on the grants available through the same program.

• To help homeowners and build on these measures, the 2021 Federal Budget proposed $4.4 billion over 5 years, starting in 2021-2022 to help up to 175,000 homeowners complete major home retrofits through interest-free loans of up to $40,000.

• Under the Canada Greener Homes Loan initiative, qualifying applicants can receive an interest-free loan for installing solar photovoltaic technology that converts sunlight directly into electricity.
